Hi Class: I looked through the class discussion - and I am so impressed - for my in-person class I never get so many valuable comments....I love how some of you are already building on your classmate's discussion points while others are making use of links and youtube to further illustrate your view.
Also, looking at the introduction discussion, I am impressed with the variety of background in our class and I hope to tap into your experiences for our class. I do have a technology degree and understand why some of you would like to broaden your experience in getting closer to sales and marketing. I have posted the suggested reading list under "Resources" in blackboard, and will also post the link to the suggested reading list for those of you looking to delve into any of the topics we've discussed in more details.
I also have been making use of a number of online marketing tools, so I will try to bring in examples of how those tools can be used (and welcome those of you with social media background to come up with suggestions).
Lastly, for week 2 we will be reading Chap 3 and 4 and look at the 5C's in more detail. I have also assigned a 5 Forces analysis for our assignment - please contact me if you have questions about the assignment (or read Competitive Advantage by Michael Porter to get a better understanding of the 5 forces model). I know some of you are pretty new to the marketing arena, don't be shy about asking questions, because many times your questions benefit our whole class as well.
